when your soul lives somewhere else
They say that when you fly somewhere,
your soul takes a few days to catch up,
so you don't quite settle in,
your mind tuned to the frequency of a radio far away.
You can see it in the eyes, they reflect a distant night sky.
"What do you think of the bridge, of the lights at that street corner?" I asked.
"I've seen better", you'd say,
for the lights seem dim when the gaze must travel across the world.
Perhaps someday, you will rest long enough
to let your soul catch up
and finally feel full.
